AAF-Baton Rouge will award two student scholarships–one for general achievement and one for diversity–and a senior merit award at the May Salute to Students luncheon. The scholarships are designed to assist and support outstanding students who have shown significant professional promise and commitment to advertising. The outstanding senior award is designed to recognize a senior who has significant professional promise, who has shown a commitment to advertising, and who has made substantial contributions to professional and/or student organizations related to advertising.
The award is open to advertising, business, communications, communication studies, creative writing, electronic media, English, graphic design, journalism, marketing, photography, political communication, or public relations students in the Greater Baton Rouge area. Students should apply by April 8, 2010.
All entries will be juried by a panel of professionals. Each scholarship winner will receive a $750 scholarship to be applied to his or her tuition and fees, as well as a one-year honorary membership in AAF-Baton Rouge. The senior merit award winner will receive a $500 award in addition to a one-year honorary membership in AAF-Baton Rouge. Bourgeois Wins President of the Year
At the AAF District 7 Spring Convention, AAF-BR was named Club of the Year in Division III. AAF-BR President Ace Bourgeois was also honored as President of the Year in Division III. The club received divisional honors in the following categories:

AAF-BR hosted the District 7 Spring Convention in Baton Rouge at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center. Advertising professionals from 23 federations in the states of Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee attended the convention held April 16-19. Inspired by Huey “Kingfish” Long, the theme of the convention, “Every Member a King” captured the cultural and historical uniqueness of Baton Rouge and Louisiana.

One of the highlights of the 2009 Spring Convention was the induction of Baton Rouge advertising professional, Curtis Vann, as the 2009-10 District 7 Governor. Vann will oversee all AAF activities in this district beginning July 1, 2009.
